CGS Medical Student Essay Prize

2026 Essay Prize

  • Title: Newborn genome sequencing: protecting the future or overstepping the present?
  • Length: Up to 2,000 words (excluding title and references)
  • 1st place prize: The winner can pick either of the two following options:

    a) Free registration, up to 2 days accommodation, and a travel grant of up to £150 for the 10th Joint Meeting of the UK /Dutch Clinical Genetics Societies & Cancer Genetics groups on the 2nd-3rd of March 2026 at Maastricht, in the south of the Netherlands.

    b) £250 cash prize

    The winning essay will also be published in the abstract book for the conference and on the CGS website.

    2nd place: certificate

    3rd place: certificate

  • Closing date: 12pm GMT, Monday 1st December 2025
  • Winner to be announced by:12th January 2026
