Professional Profile
Dr Murray is the Lead Clinician for the All Wales Medical Genomics Service, based at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and Singleton Hospital in Swansea.
She worked as a locum registrar at the genetics departments in both Oxford and Cambridge before taking up her substantive registrar post in Cardiff in 2001. She was appointed as a consultant in 2005 and has been the Cancer Genetics Lead in Wales since 2006. She has led the Welsh cancer genetics mainstreaming programme and is a member of the Target Ovarian Cancer Clinical Advisory Panel.
Alex is the Chair of the JRCPTB’s Clinical Genetics Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC). The SAC contributes to the development of specialist training policy, supervises the delivery of training to standards set by the JRCPTB and develops the curriculum and methods of performance assessment for clinical genetics training.
She also Chairs the Welsh Government’s Genomics Strategy’s Workforce and Training implementation group and is the Undergraduate Teaching Lead for Cancer & Genetics at Cardiff University School of Medicine.
