News and Views [ARCHIVE]03/04/2006: Many thanks to all those who made the Spring Meeting in Glasgow such a success. 20/02/2006: Dr Jill Clayton-Smith has written a report from the December 2005 UK Dysmorphology Meeting. 20/02/2006: Minutes from the July 2005 CGS Council Meeting are now on-line. 21/03/2005: The 2005 Carter lecture will be given by Professor Sydney Brenner FRS. Professor Brenner was a Nobel Laureate in 2002 for discoveries concerning "genetic regulation of organ development and programmed cell death". 10/01/2005: We were delighted to hear that Professor Dian Donnai was awarded a CBE in the New Year Honours in recognition of her work for the specialty of Genetics. Many of us have benefited from Di's clinical expertise and advice and she has played a major part in developing our specialty through her work on various committees over the years. As last year's Carter lecturer, she gave us an insight into the vast number of initiatives she has been involved with and we offer her our warm congratulations. 31/07/2004: Dr Jill Clayton-Smith has written a report on the June 2004 Dysmorphology Club meeting in London. If you have any suggestions for the site, please contact the CGS Website Steering Committee. 22/06/2004: Consultant contract negotiations are currently ongoing across most trusts. The CGS has produced a document to provide guidance for Clinical Geneticists in the job planning process. 12/06/2004: Professor Peter S. Harper CBE, Professor of Medical Genetics at University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, has been awarded a knighthood in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for Services to Medicine. We offer our congratulations on this well-deserved recognition for his outstanding contributions to the field of Medical Genetics over the years. |
